Many are shaken by the state of our economy and many have concerns about the future. Join a community conversation; a time for sharing stories in small groups, networking, and connection, where innovative projects large and small may be born or accelerated.

On May 6th from 12-2pm please join us for a community conversation that gets at the heart of what wealth means to you.

Who is it for:

Are you concerned about the general state of our economy?

The cost of living, lack of job opportunities, low wages, access to affordable housing and health care, debt burden?

If yes, then we want to hear from you. You may engage in this conversation as a concerned citizen on behalf of you or your neighbor, or a member of your organization.

Why:

The facilitators are nonprofits and social entrepreneurs who are united by the mission to advocate prosperity for all Alaskans. Realizing that not everyone understands wealth in the same way, the first step in this advocacy work is for us to hear from our community what wealth means to them. This event is being organized by the YWCA, Umoja CoWorking, First Entrepreneur LLC, Alaska Public Interest Research Group, and the Alaska Humanities Forum.

Where:

Mountain View Public Library. Seating is limited so please RSVP at your earliest.

Time:

12-2pm

Light meal/snacks provided

Kids Corner:

We know that childcare is often a barrier to caregivers participating in many programs. The Forum is dedicated to supporting parents and families of all kinds. At this community conversation we are excited to introduce a kids corner. We will have a few toys, some coloring books and supplies, a movie projected, and an AKHF Forum staff person to look over the area and kiddos. Children may also stay with their adult throughout the event with supervision and respect for other participants. Importantly, participants will not be censored and topics may be mature or uncomfortable for some. Parents will have to decide what is right for their family.

Alaska Humanities Forum

The Alaska Humanities Forum is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that designs and facilitates experiences to bridge distance and difference – programming that shares and preserves the stories of people and places across our vast state, and explores what it means to be Alaskan.
