Jerrad Anderson

HR Management Trainee

Jerrad Anderson currently works as the HR Technology Manager at BBNC.  He holds a Masters degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and he is currently on the board of directors of the Alaska Native Professional Association.  Jerrad has previously worked as a Middle East intelligence expert and Information Dominance Warfare Expert. He has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Excelsior College, speaks Hebrew and Arabic, is a graduate of Alaska Pacific University's Alaska Native Executive Leadership Program, and has lived in many places around the world.  Jerrad has spent many summers commercial fishing.  He has an amazing wife and two daughters aged 8 and 5.

Victoria Baldwin

United States Airforce

Victoria has served in the U.S. Air Force for ten years and holds the rank of E6. She works in the Health Services Administration career field and has been stationed at four duty locations across the country and two deployed locations overseas. She is a mother to an energetic, hilarious, kind, and passionate preschooler, and when she's not fulfilling her commitment to the military, she pursues photography, writing, do-it-yourself projects, and weightlifting. She plans to complete her degree in Social Work and pursue a career in public service after she leaves the military.

Shawn Bernard

Assistant Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Special Education

Shawn has a passion for learning and education.  He works as a special education administrator, adjunct professor, and education consultant.  Shawn received his Masters in Educational Leadership at the University of Alaska- Southeast, and his undergrad degree was from Grand Valley State University where he majored in Psychology/ Special Education with an Elementary Distributed Minor with endorsements in Cognitive Impairments and Emotional Disturbance and completed coursework for certification of Autism Spectrum Disorder.  In addition to his work, Shawn loves to travel and explore the world. Shawn was named to The Alaska Journal of Commerce 2018 Top Forty Under 40.

Joy Britt

Joy Britt is the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s Contamination Support Program Manager. She leads assistance in the identification, remediation, and prevention of contaminated sites and explores the connection between contamination and traditional foods. Joy holds a Master in Public Health Practice, a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a minor in Chemistry. Joy is passionate about preserving the environment, culture, and public health. Joy is from the beautiful island of Guam, enjoys all outdoor activities, and eating outrageous foods.

Andrea Costales

Invest Alaska 
Andrea Costales is a lifelong Alaskan with a passion for people and to continuously ameliorate the world around her. Energetic and passionate about nearly everything she does, she is always building, creating, and doing. Andrea is the Founder Owner of Invest Alaska, a commercial real estate company in Anchorage. She's been an entrepreneur since she could speak. Always laughing, often you hear her before you see her. Andrea spends her free time feeding her inner adrenaline junkie, traveling the world, spending time with her family, mentoring youth, or her newest obsession, flying helicopters.

Reth Duir

Reth Duir is a first generation Southern Sudanese American who claims Alaska as his home.  His current role with Alaska Geographic allows Reth to combine his love of the outdoors with his passion for education.  Reth is an active volunteer in his community,  including serving as a mentor, tutor, and volunteer coach with Alaska Boxing Academy. He loves to serve, pack a deadly punch, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Cheryl Eluska

Cheryl Eluska Anderson is a lifelong Alaskan and is a current Board Member for her Village Corporation, Akhiok-Kaguyak, Inc. She is married to her loving and very supportive husband Eric Anderson and has raised two marvelous young adults Daniel, a freshman at UAA and Morgan, a senior at East High School. She enjoys sports fishing in Whittier and Seward with her family in the summer and enjoys giving back to the community. She is a former Boys and Girls club volleyball coach, and former member of Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee and took 3rd place at 2016 Start-Up Alaska. Currently, Cheryl is the VP of Membership at Centerpoint Toastmaster Club and works as an executive assistant.

Lincoln holds an MBA from Alaska Pacific University and is the president of Up All Night Consultants, focused on working with small and mid-sized businesses developing exit strategies. With more than 15 years in the business, marketing and communications fields and serving as president of Solstice Advertising, the most award winning advertising agency in Alaska, Lincoln has provided public affairs strategy for a wide range of national brands and local organizations. Lincoln is a Rotarian; member of the Public Relations Society of America and Word of Mouth Marketing Association; and is a frequent university presenter.

Nora Gecan

A former east-coaster, Nora Gecan first came to Alaska in 2009 at the tender age of 21, eventually becoming a fully fledged transplant in 2011.  She initially worked as a paid intern for both the Renewable Energy Alaska Project and the Alaska Marine Conservation Council before transitioning into full time contract work as a graphic designer.  Nora is currently working as a graphic designer with the Tooth Companies and she serves on the youth program committee at Identity Alaska.

Sara Haley

Operations Manager

Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska Sara is the youngest of four children that live throughout the state. She has worked for FedEx for the last 11 years, climbing her way up the leadership ladder, 3.5 of those years were spent managing the Express operation in Portland, Oregon. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at UAA. In her free time, Sarah enjoys cycling, cooking, art, live music and dancing.

Gail Jackson

Probation Officer II

State of Alaska
Gail is a Certified, Accredited Drum Circle facilitator as well as a Certified Sound Practitioner. Gail’s focus at this time is to bring health and wellness to Anchorage and surrounding communities through Drumming, Rhythm and Sound events. She  facilitates monthly drumming circles at her spiritual center and in the community and is also a certified Sound Healer. 

Laci Michaud

Communications and Marketing Specialist

Laci Michaud is a life-long Alaskan, originally from Valdez. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communication from Washington State University and uses it in her role as the Communications and Marketing Specialist at the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center. If Laci isn’t at work or volunteering with local non-profit boards, she spends her time crafting and creating custom home décor, and snuggling with her three rescued puppies.  Laci was named to The Alaska Journal of Commerce 2018 Top Forty Under 40.

Dora Moore

Dora Christine Moore is Alaska Native, originally from a small rural village of Emmonak. She is a part-time student at Alaska Pacific University seeking a BA degree in Business Administration. Dora has more than eight years experience managing business relations and special projects.  She is currently a Program Associate at Alaska Humanities Forum, working on education programming includingTake Wing Alaska, Ciuneq, and Sister School Exchange.  Dora shares words from her grandpa Axel C. Johnson--Kwiguk, Alaska, "Know where you come from, learn as much as you can, share your knowledge and wisdom."

Freddie Olin

Special Projects Coordinator

Freddie Olin was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and has recently returned from three years of residing in Juneau, Alaska. Freddie has worked on the North Slope, is a former wildland firefighter, and spent three sessions working in the Alaska State Capitol. He is currently working for Gana-A'Yoo, Limited in Anchorage, an Alaska Native village corporation of which he is a descendant. Freddie is happy to be back and appreciates being a part of LA21.

Marissa Palmer

Quality Systems Technical Writer and Project Coordinator

Marissa Palmer was born and raised in Anchorage. She has taught ESL and preparatory writing at UAA and is currently a technical writer and project coordinator at Blood Bank of Alaska. She is also a published poet, a coffee lover, an amateur runner, and a mother of three small children (hence all the coffee and running). She is thrilled to be a part of Leadership Anchorage 21.

Diego Perez a first generation college graduate with a bachelor's degree in Aviation Technology Management. Currently working at Peninsula Airways and for the Anchorage School District as a substitute teacher. He is a member of UAA's Tau Kappa Epsilon (Social Fraternity Alumni), Alaska Airmen's Association, and the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce - Young Professionals Group. During Diego's spare time he enjoys the Alaskan outdoors year round and volunteering around town.  

Sarah Preskitt

Adult Services Librarian

Born and raised in Anchorage, Sarah has worked in libraries since 2008 (coincidentally, also the year she became a lady-in-waiting to her two portly felines, Butter and Mo). She has been an Adult Services Librarian at Loussac Library since 2013, where she has implemented programs such as a mobile library on a bicycle and a social work internship program to help library patrons navigate local services. Sarah is fueled by pizza and a strong desire for justice for all, and finds respite from a noisy world by spending time with her husband John and their aforementioned cats.

Rosa Salazar

Within the last few years Rosa has done some major soul searching, and has finally found her path in life.  She is severely into music especially from her Puerto Rican culture, disco, and house music. Rosa enjoys hosting company and loves to cook for her family and friends here. She is very passionate about health, nutrition, and community, and loves to talk about the importance of resiliency.

Joe Sonnier

Joe Sonnier is employed as an Employee Education Specialist at Hope Community Resources, Inc. providing employee support and professional development to an employee base across Alaska. Outside of work, Joe is pursuing his Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management at Alaska Pacific University. Joe enjoys spending his free time entertaining friends and family with his husband and exploring Downtown Anchorage with his dog.
