Thursdays | 3:30-5PM

Please join us for "Leading Meaningful Race Conversations in Your Alaskan Classroom" with Matthew Kay, author of Not Light, But Fire and guest speaker Yaari Walker.  Participants will learn how to better build relationships with their students and create a classroom environment where their students feel comfortable and safe. This workshop series is open to teachers and anyone working with students or within the education field in Alaska.

The series will begin during the week of 5/25 and end the week of 6/17. On Tuesdays the group will meet with Matthew Kay from 3:30pm-6pm, and on Thursdays with Yaari Walker from 3:30pm-5pm AKST. All workshops will take place on zoom. Participants also have the option to receive 1 credit through UAA for participating in this workshop series. Both the workshop series and the 1 credit optional course are offered at no-cost to participants.

Deadline for registration is May 21 and the course is capped at 30 participants.
