Since its founding in 1997, Leadership Anchorage participants have connected with a wide range of organizations and community champions to meet real needs. Each year, community organizations pitch concepts to the cohort and the cohort selects the projects they want to work on in teams of up to 5 people over the course of the program. In 2024, 16 proposals were submitted and the Cohort selected six.
The six selected by LA 28 were:
Creating a Funding Database - Alaska Small Business Development Center
Diversifying Firefighter Recruitment - Anchorage Fire Department
Establishing a Childcare Cooperative - Anchorage Childcare Cooperative
Developing Culturally Responsive Curriculum - Pacific Community of Alaska
Analyzing Building Usage Needs - Stone Soup Group
Making Anchorage a Music City - Alaska Creative Economies
Leadership Anchorage Community Projects
Thank you to Nancy King, LA 18, for compiling this list!
The Alaska Humanities Forum is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that designs and facilitates experiences to bridge distance and difference – programming that shares and preserves the stories of people and places across our vast state, and explores what it means to be Alaskan.
