Canceled- Due to the high spread of COVID19 in our community, we are regretfully canceling this month's Culture Shift. We hope to offer this program again in the near future. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Radical ideas, unexpected connections, stronger community - join us for Culture Shift, a monthly series hosted by Alaska Humanities Forum and held at Resolution Brewing Company.
At each event, two guests take turns each speaking on a topic that they are passionate about - an idea that challenges cultural norms or assumptions. Then, the audience takes part in a fun, interactive, and thought-provoking Q&A to find connections between the two.
When: The first Wednesday of the month from 6-8pm.
Resolution Brewing Company
3024 Mountain View Dr #106, Anchorage
Many thanks to Resolution Brewing for hosting our series!

The 5 Principles of Culture Shift
Before anything else, we ask that if you show up to Culture Shift, you show up curious. Listen openly and explore ideas that may be different than your own, don’t be afraid to ask (and answer!) questions, and come with a willingness to look at things from another perspective. Be flexible, this event relies on what you bring to the table. We can’t predict where the conversation will take us, and we invite everyone participating to embrace the unexpected.
We strive to foster a space where everyone feels welcome to participate to their fullest. At Culture Shift, we are committed to inclusion and recognition regardless of race, age, culture, ability, ethnicity or nationality, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, religious affiliation, and socioeconomic status. We invite all those participating to consider how your words and actions may impact those around you.
We ask all of our speakers to come ready to talk about an idea that they truly believe in. The same goes for our audience. Speak from your own experience and beliefs. Be truthful in acknowledging things you may not understand.
This is a space for visioning, dreaming, and imagining. Let yourselves think beyond the immediately possible, and be encouraged to share your ideas with others. Let yourself have fun with this!
In this space, we honor one another and the diverse experiences and stories that we each bring. Even in times of disagreement or discord, we believe it is possible to respect and value one another. Respect means listening fully to others and to yourself, and also being brave in speaking out when you disagree.
