Join us for a FREE evening of storytelling and connection!

In the first half of the evening, you'll hear excerpts from stories the 2026 FORUM Storytelling Fellows have been working on during the past six months. After that, we'll guide participants through a simple Story Circle activity, where you will have a chance to draft and share a story of your own with a few other attendees, and hear others' stories as well. No writing experience needed!

You must register using the form below, and we will send out the Zoom link to the event closer to the date.

What to Bring to the Virtual Event

  • Materials you like to write with (paper, pens, a computer, etc.)
  • In preparation for the Story Circle activity, please have a photo or object you are comfortable sharing with others, which signifies something important to you, your family, or your community.

We are running this special event as part of the national initiative By the People: Conversations Beyond 250. By the People: Conversations Beyond 250 is a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils across the United States, its territories, and the District of Columbia in collaboration with local partners. Together, these programs explore 250 years of the nation's cultural life and imagine its shared future. The initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as a complement to the 2026 Smithsonian Folklife Festival.

Alaska Humanities Forum

The Alaska Humanities Forum is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that designs and facilitates experiences to bridge distance and difference – programming that shares and preserves the stories of people and places across our vast state, and explores what it means to be Alaskan.
